For my project I wanted to do a short film using archive footage. The reason for this is that I felt my work wouldn’t be understood and I wanted to use the film as a way to create some context.
After searching online I found the North West Film Archive website which is based at Manchester Central Library. I visited the library and viewed the footage on their video equipment. I chose five films, and applied to have them sent to me. I signed an application form and my tutor counter signed. Within around two weeks I received the films. It could have taken longer if they needed me to arrange permission to use them but luckily I didn’t need to arrange any permissions for the films for copyright purposes.
Once I had the archive footage I needed to edit the film. I haven’t done editing before so I made some enquiries at SODA, the digital technology department of the university. I received some help from Wiktoria I took notes but unfortunately I misplaced them. So I went on Youtube and found a tutorial and made notes. From these notes I went on a Mac and made some simple edits to one of the archive films.
